A security analyst, Nana Owusu Sekyere has said that Ghanaians must have clarity on the formation of the vanguard as a taskforce in preventing illegal mining in the country.
Reacting to matters arising from activities of operation vanguard, task force made up of military and police personnel commissioned by government to clear all illegal miners from mining areas, the security analyst disclosed to Agoo fm’s Eugene Akoto Bamfo on the “ene nso biem” morning show, that the vanguard as a taskforce is a recognized body which has been enforced and mandated purposely to halt illegal mining.
According to him, before the vanguard taskforce started operating, the government made sure illegal miners all over the country were given prior notice and indications as well as a reasonable time line to pack their mining tools and equipment from the sites to help in the closure of illegal mining in the country.
“If you are any other person and you want to go against the state machinery you are being lawless” he opined. Nana Owusu Sekyere advised that right channels should be used to send grievances and concerns to the task force officials instead of retaliating. He added citizens should not stand in the way of the operation vanguard task force but rather remain lawful, respectful and understandable.
