The Eastern Regional Road Safety Commissioner, Mr. Kwesi Yirenkyi has said appropriate measures have been laid down by the Road Safety Commission to ensure road safety on the highways leading to the various places where Easter Festivities will be held.
Speaking to Eugene Akoto Bamfo on Agoo fm’s morning show “ene nso biem” he disclosed the Road Safety Commission has noticed that road accidents occur frequently during Easter festivities due to carelessness and recklessness on the part of some drivers and pedestrians.
He announced that an effective national Easter Program was held at Kpone in the Greater Accra Region by the Road Safety Commission recently in commemoration of Easter festivities.
According to Mr. Yirenkyi, launching of Eastern Regional chapter of the program will be held at Bunso Junction, near Linda Door restaurant on Thursday, April 13, 2017 to educate the public and hammer on the need to be cautious on the roads as Easter festivities approach.
According to Mr. Yirenkyi, Transport Minister Mr. Asiamah and other dignitaries will attend the launching and advice will be giving to drivers and pedestrians to be very careful on the road.
Also a check will be conducted on drivers’ observations on the road because the Road Safety Commission has noticed that some drivers are ignorant of road signs, he observed.
