Kwahu South District Assembly face Challenges

The Kwahu South District Assembly in the Eastern Region has recently encountered numerous issues on sanitation in the various surrounding communities and villages which hinders growth and development in the Kwahu South District.

In an interview on Agoo fm’s morning show “ene nso biem” hosted by Eugene Akoto Bamfo, the District Budget Officer of the Kwahu South District Assembly, Selorm Tibu pointed out that the Assembly has been encountering a lot of challenges affecting the Assembly’s administration.

He said there have been persistent sanitation problems, bad roads, lack of access to water supply and also frequent electricity outages; all these have been confronting the Kwahu South District.

According to him mobilization of revenue is also a major challenge due to ignorance on the part of some people. Because some people do not understand the concept of the District Assembly they refuse to pay their levies when the revenue collector prompts them on their levies. The Assembly needs funds in order to run the affairs of the people and also curb the sanitation issues in the Kwahu South District Assembly, he appealed.

Meanwhile the Public Affairs Officer of the Kwahu South District Assembly, Victor Adjei Nframa affirmed that the Assembly has conducted visibility studies in the District and is putting up measures to solve the sanitation as well as other issues.

He however mentioned that most of the toilet facilities in the district are not in good shape because they are being mismanaged by individuals so the Assembly has decided to raise funds to renovate dilapidated toilet facilities which would afterwards be handed over to the various Area Councils to be taking care of.

According to Victor Adjei Nframa there has not been any report recently on abandoned refuse dumps after the clearing of the refuse at “Nsuase”, alleged 60 year old refuse dump. He said the Assembly made an arrangement of placing refuse containers at the refuse site but unfortunately an unknown individual has claimed ownership of the site by planting pillars on the land.

“The Assembly has decided to solve that issue so that the refuse containers can be placed at the refuse site”.  He also said the Assembly hopes to solve other related sanitation problems in the Kwahu South District,” the Assembly is in financial crisis so we call on individuals for their contributions and support”, he requested.
