Valentine was a man of undoubted virility

St Valentine was an able bodied male with masculine features, thoughts and gestures who could have married any woman he wanted in life and established a family afterwards but decided to remain a celibate. Reverend George Lutterodt a prominent marriage counselor and Minister in the service of the Christian God has revealed.

He was speaking to Eugene Akoto Bamfo of Agoo fm on “Ene nso biem”. According to history St Valentine was a Roman priest martyred during the reign of Claudius Gothicus the Roman emperor. He was arrested and imprisoned upon being caught marrying Christian couples and otherwise aiding Christians who were at the time being persecuted by Claudius in Rome.

Valentine’s day celebration has become a magnum opus causing a number of divorce cases, relationship setbacks and financial problems in recent times, due to the misinterpretation of the real idea behind the festivity and some churches on the other hand in their quest to arrive at a solution to these social ails put the blame on the perceived devil and organize prayer sessions, church revivals he said.

He lectured that during the 18th century a young recruited soldier wrote a poem on St Valentine which read; “Love is Red, Love is something that you fight for so if you find Love celebrate it in a way of sharing” and this poem was adopted by the people hence the day of celebration. But the minister of God lamented that today the celebration is characterized by all sorts of immoral acts by the youth.

Reverend Lutterodt asserted some people even go to the extent of collecting loans just to buy items like flowers, toys and other gifts for their loved ones which in his view are all unreasonable. He stated further that it is about time the media, church, parents and stakeholders educate people especially the youth on both the positive and negative effects of behaving immorally in the society.
