Residents sanitize abandoned public toilet:Video

Residents of Nsuta Topway, Nkawkaw in the Eastern region have organized a cleanup exercise for an abandoned public toilet facility in the area.

The residents had been grumbling over the facility which had not been well kept by the appropriate authorities. They maintained the lavatory, ever since its erection about six years ago had never been attended to for janitorial purposes.

The assembly member of the area visited the location when he was informed but seemed not to be bothered, some aggrieved residents lamented. They were worried of the possible outbreak of an endemic or epidemic.

The Kwahu West Municipal Environmental Department after being informed by Agoo fm News Desk investigated the matter and decided to close down the facility but later relinquished as it happens to be the only lavatory in the area.

Head of Unit for the department, Mr. Joseph Krampah directed the assembly member of the area to mobilize a cleanup campaign exercise with assistance from the Health center. According to Mr. Krampah, the exercise will minimize altitude of filth at the site and urged the residents to keep the place hygienic henceforth. He also said his outfit will liaise with the Municipal Assembly to renovate the facility.
