High-flying Hearts of Oak protected their unbeaten run in the Ghana Premier League after coming back from two goals down to defeat Inter Allies 3-2 at the Tema Park on Sunday.
After a scoreless first half, Frederick Boateng gave Inter Allies the lead with a tap-in goal that beat goalkeeper Soulama Abdoulaye in the 50th minute.
Gockel Ahortor kept his promise by scoring against the Phobians with a fabulous 30-yard drive in the 66th minute. But, Isaac Mensah pulled one back for Coach Kenichi Yatsuhashi’s side in the 68th minute before Musah Ibrahim’s brace in the 81st and 90th minutes sealed victory for the Rainbow club, which extends its lead on the league table to 13 points.
Elsewhere, Richard Arthur’s solitary strike in the second half helped Wa All Stars sink New Edubiase FC 1-0 at home to stay in 2nd position on the log sheet while WAFA relied on Martin Antwi’s second half goal to hand Liberty Professionals a 1-0 defeat in Sogakope and move up to 3rd position with 3 wins and 2 losses from 5 games.
Dreams FC suffered their first defeat of the season in a 1-0 loss to fellow Premier League new-boys Techiman City at the Nana Ameyaw Park. Baba Mahama’s first half effort sealed the fate of Coach CK Akunnor’s side. Bechem United and Ebusua Dwarfs shared the spoils in the 0-0 draw.
On Saturday, Aduana Stars forced out a 1-1 draw from their away encounter against unbeaten AshantiGold SC at the Len Clay after Bright Adjei’s stunning 90th minute overhead kick cancelled out diminutive Emmanuel Osei Baffour’s 43rd minute goal from the penalty spot.
And on Friday at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi, Asante Kotoko finally recorded their first win of the Ghana Premier League campaign in a 1-0 triumph over Sekondi Hasaacas courtesy a 72nd minute goal from Kwame Boateng.
