Medeama progress past Ittihad in Africa


Medeama SC has progressed to the next stage of the CAF Confederation Cup after defeating Al Ittihad Tripoli 2-0 in the reverse fixture at the Sekondi Essipong Stadium on Sunday.

Striker Abass Mohammed grabbed both goals in the 12th and 39th minutes of the first half to ensure the Mauves and Yellows sealed a 2-1 aggregate victory over the Libyan outfit.

Medeama SC will now face Al Ahly Shendi after the Sudan club defeated DR Congo side FC Saint Eloi Lupopo 1-0 on Sunday to progress 2-2 on the away goals rule.

Coach Tom Strand’s side will first travel to Sudan to face Al Ahly Shendi on the weekend of April 8-10 before hosting the reverse fixture in Sekondi on April 19 or 20.
